Happy Sunday. Here's what actually mattered in tech this week, broken down so it's worth your five minutes, then a bit on what's been on my mind. Let's get into it.
This week in tech + AI
SpaceX pulled off a crazy IPO. The rocket company went public in one of the largest listings in years raising around $75 billion, partly to fund space-based AI data centers. What it means: the IPO market is coming back to life and even a rocket company is now partly an AI bet.
Anthropic confidentially filed for its own IPO. The maker of Claude filed at a reported valuation near a trillion dollars, joining the wave of AI labs heading to public markets. What it means: the model wars are now also a markets story.
OpenAI gave the EU access to a cybersecurity model. GPT-5.5-Cyber rolled out in limited preview to EU businesses, governments and institutions. What it means: AI is moving into serious security work, and cyber plus AI is shaping up to be one of the most valuable skill combos out there.
Databricks raised $5 billion at a $134 billion valuation. The data and AI infrastructure company keeps growing. what it means: the unglamorous data plumbing behind AI is where a lot of the real money flows. Data skills are still a quiet goldmine.
On my mind
This one is a bit different because it's actually about this newsletter. I'll be honest with you, it costs me a fair amount of money and time every week and it doesn't reward me much in any obvious way. For a while I went back and forth on whether to even keep it going. But then I realized there's a group of you who genuinely look forward to it (thank you!!), and that alone is reason enough for me to keep showing up. So instead of dropping it i reworked it into this new format. The idea is to give you the best of both worlds, the tech and AI news that actually matter + the personal thoughts and lessons I usually keep to myself. I'm really hoping this is the version that's actually worth your time. If you have a minute, I'd love to hear what you think of the new format (too long, too short, too general….), just shoot me a quick dm on Instagram. It really helps me make this better for you. Also to cover the subscription cost of the Newsletter I will start to include partnerships in the bottom section of the Newsletter (only for tools I use myself - like wispr flow this week), just clicking the link literally helps to keep this newsletter alive :)
More from me
My latest video: I built an AI second brain with Claude + Obsidian - how I gave Claude a memory of my whole life so I never have to explain myself again.
Recommendation of the week: Claude Corps - for everyone in the US, Anthropic is paying people 85k for a year to learn AI and work at a nonprofit. One of the best early career opportunities I've seen, and applications close soon.
Tool of the week: Wispr Flow - an AI speech-to-text tool that I’ve been using myself for months now. It literally saves me so much time when writing prompts and the the free tier is so generous that it’s an absolute no-brainer. You can get it for free with the link below!
Your best prompts are the ones you'd never bother typing.
The detailed ones. The ones with examples and edge cases. Wispr Flow lets you speak them instead — clean, structured, ready to paste into any AI tool. Free on Mac, Windows, and iPhone.
Have a great week,
Chris
