I recently had the opportunity to spend one week with some of the biggest creators and founders in the tech space in Washington. As someone who hadn’t had much contact with people like that before, I feel like I gained a million dollars’ worth of knowledge from the experience. Today, I want to share my top three learnings.
1. Be helpful to other and they will be helpful to you
I was truly amazed by how friendly and helpful everyone was, even though they were incredibly busy running companies, creating content, and keeping up with the latest developments. Everyone had their own specific area of expertise (e.g., Notion automation, newsletter setup, video creation) and was genuinely willing to share their knowledge with others. I’ve never experienced this kind of atmosphere before and it was truly inspiring.
That being said, to be part of an environment like this, you also have to bring something to the table. You need deep expertise, a skill, or niche knowledge that can help others. Nobody wants someone who only takes but never gives.
2. Stop talking, start doing
The people I met were exceptionally good at cutting out unnecessary fluff and immediately working on what they said they would do. Ideas were brainstormed and executed within the next 24 hours. No time wasted, no broken promises, just focused execution. I realized that only by moving this fast can you truly make progress and test ideas effectively.
3. Outsource and automate
While this may not be relevant for everyone, it is absolutely crucial for people who have started a business and already gained some traction. The moment you notice that you’re spending time on tasks that could be done more efficiently by others you should automate or outsource them. Automation can mean leveraging AI agents or workflows, while outsourcing might involve hiring an editor or a virtual assistant. Almost everyone there was obsessed with delegating or automating their most time-consuming tasks so they could focus on higher-value work. That’s exactly why they were able to scale so quickly.
I hope you can apply some of these learnings to your own life and surround yourself with people who inspire you and push you to become better.
Best,
Chris
💡 My Recommendation of the Week:
This may sound generic, but try to surround yourself with people who inspire you and push you to grow. Your environment shapes you in ways you can hardly imagine. Choose your friends wisely, and don’t be afraid to cut out people who don’t support you.
How did I find my people? Literally through Instagram DMs. If I hadn’t reached out, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
